Narender Modi Monday meeting updates on COVID-19
The Prime Minister in meeting with chief ministers of all states through video-conferencing highlighted the importance of last week launched Aarogya Setu App to contain COVID-19 outbreak in India and mentioned how to use Aarogya Setu tracking mobile App as an Epass for travel from one place to another.
In meeting, the Prime Minister “spoke about popularising the Aarogya Setu app to ensure downloads in greater numbers and promote it via social media platform”
He also Referred how South Korea and Singapore got success in contact tracing, PM Modi said, “based on those experiences, India has made its own effort through the app which will be an essential tool in India’s fight against the pandemic. He also referred to the possibility of the app being an e-pass which could subsequently facilitate travel from one place to another”
Recently Narender Modi tweet and urged to download Aarogya Setu App “it is an important step in the country’s fight against COVID-19. “By leveraging technology, it provides important information. As more and more people use it, its effectiveness will increase,”
Lockdown extended till 30 april
“PM emphasized the criticality of the coming 3-4 weeks for determining the impact of the steps taken till now to contain the virus. There seems to be a consensus amongst the states on extension of Lockdown by another two weeks. He underlined that the motto of the government earlier was ‘jaan hai to jahaan hai’ but now is ‘jaan bhi jahaan bhi’, said the statement.
Telangana, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Odisha and Punjab, have already extended the lockdown till April 30, while many other states have said they want to. India has, so far, reported 7529 cases and 242 deaths
What is Aarogya Setu App?
Mobile Tracking App is to check if you have been in contact with a COVID-19 affected patient. This App will protect you from risk of catching novel virus and Indian government will use phone location and Bluetooth technology to trace suspected covid-19 patients. It will reduce time and error in manual identification.
“The app’s design ensures privacy-first. The personal data collected by the app is encrypted using state-of-the-art technology and stays secure on the phone till it is needed for facilitating medical intervention,” an official statement said.
“The app is aimed at augmenting the initiatives of the government of India, particularly the Department of Health, in proactively reaching out to and informing the users of the app regarding risks, best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19,” it added.
Aarogya Setu uses your phone’s location to determine where you are and Bluetooth connectivity to check if you have been within six-feet of a Covid-19 affected person. Based on analysis App will tell if you are at ‘high risk’ or not. App will share your data with the government if your test is positive or you came in contact with the covid-19 positive patient
