Government launches Aarogya Setu- a Comprehensive COVID-19 App

PM Narender Modi developed an Aarogya Setu App, to check if you have been in contact with a COVID-19 affected patient. This App will protect you from risk of catching novel virus and Indian government will use phone location and Bluetooth technology to trace suspected covid-19 patients. It will reduce time and error in manual identification. The app developed in public-private partnership by eGov Mobile Apps division of NIC. This App is completely based on Singapore’s App using for same purpose called TraceTogether.

How to use Aarogya Setu Phone App

Step 1: Google Play Users can Click Here to Download Aarogya Setu App. If you are an iOS user, you can Click Here to Download Aarogya Setu iOS app from the Apple Plauy Store.

Step 2: You need to register your mobile number and then verify with an OTP. There is an optional form to enroll yourself as one.

Step 3: The app will alert whether you fall in the low-risk or high-risk category

“The app’s design ensures privacy-first. The personal data collected by the app is encrypted using state-of-the-art technology and stays secure on the phone till it is needed for facilitating medical intervention,” an official statement said.

“The app is aimed at augmenting the initiatives of the government of India, particularly the Department of Health, in proactively reaching out to and informing the users of the app regarding risks, best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19,” it added.

Aarogya Setu uses your phone’s location to determine where you are and Bluetooth connectivity to check if you have been within six-feet of a Covid-19 affected person. Based on analysis App will tell if you are at ‘high risk’ or not. App will share your data with the government if your test is positive or you came in contact with the covid-19 positive patient.

The new app Aarogya Setu looks to solve government problem as it is time consuming exercise to identify suspects and reaching people come in contact with COVID-19 suspects. Government uses this app to quickly contain the virus.
