COVID-19 Impact: BS6 deadline to be extended?

The Indian automobile industry has been already experiencing a slow down since last year. The widespread of COVID-19 virus has led to poor sales and left dealers unable to clear their BS4 stocks.  Automobile manufacturers are already offering huge discounts on the BS4 vehicles since December, 2019 but due to the severe slowdown they were still unable to clear all the stock. Government has already set April 1st as the final date for selling BS6 vehicles.

COVID-19 Impact: BS6 deadline to be extended?

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has requested supreme court to extend the last date for selling BS-IV vehicles to 31st May. Some sources even say that BS4 vehicles won’t be able to apply for a Registration Certificate post 25th March, 2020 leaving automobile dealers under panic. While Supreme court has not responded to the latest request. Hoping to get urgent hearing soon and it may extend the date for BS4 cars still in stock.

However, as per latest update the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases have risen to 147 in India and increasing rapidly even after restricted measures.
