BS6: Diesel Honda CR-V Discontinued, Available Only in Petrol CVT

Highlights:

  • Honda CR-V will not offer diesel engine in BS6 Era
  • Single Petrol model CR-V will remain a 5-seater only
  • The petrol version variant is priced at Rs 28.27 lakh

The company has confirmed that there will be no diesel model for Honda CR-V that is why they have removed it from Honda India official website. They will continue with petrol only model.

“Our CR-V customers continue to show natural preference for the petrol model and in order to maintain a lean variant line-up and stay focused on our core customer category, we have decided to retain only petrol variant for CR-V,” said Rajesh Goel, senior vice president, marketing and sales, Honda Cars India Ltd.

But there is some interesting fact to see about the sales of petrol and diesel variants.

Since the CR-V launch in October 2018, Honda sold 638 CR-V petrols versus 975 CR-V diesels.

However, there are occasionally offers on the diesel versions in certain months. That led to increase in sales for diesel variant.

BS6 HONDA CR-V

As we are aware the BS6-compliant 5th Gen CR-V was launched earlier this year. It is powered by a 154hp, 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine.

It is offered solely with a CVT auto gearbox.

The CR-V was launched with 3 options includes petrol-CVT auto, diesel-auto and diesel-auto AWD.

With the removal of diesel, it is obvious that the CR-V will no longer be available with the AWD(all-wheel drive vehicle) option.

While it is seems that removal of AMD will not affect much on CR-V’s cities client.

The petrol version variant is priced at Rs 28.27 lakh

The diesel CR-V was priced from Rs 30.67 lakh to Rs 32.77 lakh

The latest CR-V generates 152 bhp of power and 189 Nm of torque. It offered 1997 cc engine.

The standard safety features in CR-V include Seat Belt Warning, Airbags, Dual-Stage Airbags, Pretensioning Seatbelts, Four-Point Seatbelt, Middle Rear Head Rest, Middle rear three-point seatbelt, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Rear-Middle Seat Belt, Child Seat Anchor Points and Airbags.

The new CR-V gets more spacious, more comfortable and large in size too.It is altogether a complete family car.

No 7 Seater BS6 Honda CR-V in India

CR-V diesel comes in 7 seater so after departure of its variant. Now CR-V will be available in 5-Seater Petrol only

The diesels got the three-row configuration. There will be no addition of a third row of seats, moving forward in petrol variant.

Company will keep CR-V as only 5 seater SUV.

The feature list remains unchanged except for paddle shifters and second row sliding seats since they were offered only on the diesel CR-V.

BS6 Civic Diesel Launching Soon

The petrol version of the Civic was already BS6 compliant since its launch in March 2019. We will soon be launching the diesel BS6 Civic, depending on the production resumption for the model after COVID-19-related lockdown,”  Company stated

There will be no CR-V diesel engine but we do have Honda sedan Civic diesel engine this quarter very soon.

The Civic petrol variant priced in the range of Rs 17.94 lakh to Rs 21.25 lakh

The Civic diesel last price was Rs. 20.55 Lakh.

However, there is no more information about the BS6 Civic diesel price yet.
