German Global Auto-manufacturer, Mercedes Benz is all set to unveil the New Mercedes Benz GLS in India on June 17. GLS is the biggest SUV being offered by Mercedes Benz currently globally.
The new Mercedes Benz GLS will be the third SUV update launched by the German Auto-manufacturer in India following the GLE and GLC coupe.
The vehicle will arrive in India via the CKD route and will be assembled at the German Automaker’s facility in Chakan, Pune.
With the new update, the car will be even longer by 77 mm and wider by 22 mm. The wheelbase will also get increased by 60 mm. The increased dimensions will help to further increase space for the occupants of the second and the third row.
The GLS is known as the S Class of SUVs due to the space and comfort it offers.
On the outside, the New Mercedes Benz GLS get a few cosmetic updates like bolder octagonal grille flanked by Multibeam LED headlamps with 112 LEDs per headlamp, LED DRLs, chrome-plated under-guard in the front apron, larger air inlet grille, two-piece LED taillamps, underbody cladding, silver skid plate, and twin
exhaust mufflers with chrome finish.
In the inside, the new SUV now also features a 12.3 inch Digital Instrument Cluster, steering wheel with touchpads, centre console with touchpad, heated seats, 5-zone Climate Control, adjustable air suspension and auto parking functionality along with a host of other luxury features.
The new GLS will come up with both Petrol and Diesel engine options. The Petrol Motor will be a 3.0 Litre motor that boasts of 372PS of Power and 500Nm of torque. The 3.0 Litre Diesel engine will however provide a power of 290PS with 500Nm of torque. Both these engine options will be mated to a 9 Speed Automatic Transmission.
When launched, the new GLS will be priced somewhere around 1 Crore INR and will compete with the likes of BMW X7 and the much cheaper Audi Q7.
