In what comes as a major relief to the general public, The Road Transport Ministry extends validity of documents like Driving Licences, Permits and Vehicle Registration Certificates that had expired since 1st February upto June 30, 2020.
The order read “It has come to the notice of the government that citizens are facing difficulties in renewing various documents”.
The decision was taken at a time when such a decision was much needed as the entire country is undergoing a 21 day lockdown due to spread of Coronavirus in the country.
Through order the Ministry has requested all states to “treat documents under Motor Vehicle’s Act & Rules, whose extension of validity could not or not likely be processed due to lock-down and which have expired since 1st of February, 2020 or would expire by 30th of June 2020, as valid till 30th of June 2020.”
The decision has been taken on Monday with an objective to ensure hassle free transportation of goods during and after the 21 day nationwide lockdown.
