Xiaomi Increases Prices in India Across Its Entire Product Line

Xiaomi India through its Social Media Handles has announced an increase in prices across its entire product range. The new prices will be effective from 1st April, 2020 and will reflect on mi.com soon.

The increase in prices is due to a recent revision in GST rates on mobile phones. The Indian Government had recently announced a 50% increase in GST rates on Mobile Phones from 12% to 18% w.e.f. 1st April, 2020.

Also the increase in prices can be well attributed to the depreciation of Indian Rupee against the US Dollar.

Xiaomi has recently also pledged to donate Rs. 15 crore to fight Coronavirus in the country. The donations will be made to the PM Cares Relief Fund and CM’s Relief Fund to various states.

Along with this the Company has also tied up with Give India to raise a fund of Rs. 1 crore. The fund will be completely dedicated to making hygiene kits available to 20,000 families that have no access to soaps, sanitizers and masks.

The company was supposed to launch its next flagship, The Mi 10 Series in India sometime back however the launch was delayed due to the lockdown. The flagship phone from Mi will now be launched post lockdown however Mi has not given any specific date for the same.

Also supporting the Indian Government lockdown, Xiaomi closed all its Mi Stores in the country and stopped home delivery of products untill the lockdown opens.
